We recently returned from a long road trip in Spain. We visited a few beautiful old towns in the 3,400 miles covered, but Alberracin stood out as one of the most memorable places.

Very nice indeed.

Very nice indeed.
I agree.
The mountainside in the background is absolutely fascinating - are we looking at an entire honeycomb of cave systems?
It would not suprise if their is a massive story in that.

I love the way the color of the buildings separates from the background even though the textures are similar.

Very nice image with a sweet light. Everything is interesting... foreground, background, light…

Nice image!
I have been there a long time ago traveling on a bicycle through Spain. I remember the first thing i saw was the very red soil of the surroundings and then i came to the beautiful old town with its unique position in the landscape. As i remember the road continued though a tunnel underneath the town..
In the area a lot of geology students ...
Not a usual place to go for a tourist...I guess you also visited Cuenca?

Yes, kers - the tunnel is still there in the town. We tend to think of ourselves more as "travellers" than tourists, ;D but we were amazed that there were so few visitors in such a fascinating town. There are caves in the surrounding hills & the area is very popular with climbers. No, we never got to Cuenca as we were only in the area for one night, staying at a place just outside of Pueblo del Valverde. The following day we took a run down to Xativa.
Another shot of Alberracin:

Thank you of reminding me to Albarracin and my trip in ... 1084 or so..
That is what i like about photos in general ; they help your memory to dig up so much things and little details you would otherwise not be able to reproduce...
like i remember taking a cafe con leche there and found it was very nice and strong... i like the Spanish coffee a lot..
this is one place i will surely visit again and take more time...
