Monochrome is a wonderful choice for this image. As I look at the image, though, my brain is asking for some solid black to nail down the lower range of tones. If you are using Lightroom, may I suggest you reduce the Black adjustment to introduce a strong area of "clipped" black then increase the Shadow adjustment to bring those clipped blacks back into range but with greater separation of tones in the "shadow" areas. That might also give better balance between the low values at the top in the sky and the trees in the bottom of the photograph.

The range of light is enhanced by the range of textures. Well-seen.
