Title: Fuji x100, how to ascertain year of production of individual camera?
Post by: Pumice on September 26, 2012, 02:00:25 am
Hello
I am looking to buy a used Fujifilm x100 on Ebay. I have read that there were software and I think minor hardware issues with the earlier production numbers. So I would like to avoid the earlier production batch.

As I look at Ebay adds, I see there is a UPC # and a MPC #, but both these numbers are same for all Fuji x100 on Ebay.
So where is the serial number specific to each camera and how to know which ones were made before Fuji addressed the issues?

Thanks

Edit
Here is a LL thread about X100 being afflicted with a sticky shutter.

The first number indicates the year, and the second number indicates the quarter.  According to most everything that I've read, you don't want to risk it with anything earlier than serial number 21xxxxx.

Hi thanks for the reply.
So that would mean a 21xxxxx = 2012 , 1st quarter ?

What is the MPN # and UPC #, like in below Ebay add?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fujifilm-FinePix-X100-Digital-Camera-bundle-Original-X100-Leather-Case-NEW-/290781786619?pt=Digital_Cameras&hash=item43b3f1f1fb

I don't see a number stated as "serial # " , so I presume sellers don't normally list it?
