I'm planning to replace an aging Mitsubishi CRT with either the NEC PA241W-SV or the PA271. Other than size of panel, are there any other differences in ease of calibration, hardware, or image quality (including consistency of panels, and QC) between the 24 and 27 inch models?? Also, in the US, is there any difference in panel quality between the SV bundled package vs. a stand-alone monitor?? Thanks.

Regarding quality of SV vs on-SV. I have two NEC PA301Ws, one SV, one without SV. (Obviously I don't need two SV kits). The accuracy and gamut of both is essentially identical. I look at them both all day (they are side by side) and regularly view images spanning both simultaneously. They match up quite well.
Regarding 241 vs 271, I seem to remember comments about the 241 having a slightly smaller gamut than the 271, but do some research to verify if I am remembering that correctly.

Apart from size, resolution and proportions, there's virtually no difference.
PA271W can achieve a little lower luminance (60-70cd/m^2) than PA241W (80-90cd/m^2), the difference in gamut is marginal.
