Title: Android on the back of cameras.
Post by: FredBGG on September 22, 2012, 01:04:47 am
Take a look at the new Samsung Galaxy Camera.

It's a nice point and shoot with a large screen... as big as the camera

and runs on the new Android OS.

This could open up possibilities to far more advanced interfaces on pro cameras.

No need for independent development.

This may also explain why Google bought Nik software.

This could be nice on newer pro cameras and digital backs.

Techs and dealers could log on to your camera for service, upgrade firmwire etc..

I heard that Google plans to build some higher level code into the OS
that could benefit higher end photography.

Nik software is only one of the acquisitions.

Just think of being able to preview Nik software effects and black and white conversions on the camera
in the field. I would love to have live view black and white preview with color filtered conversions.

The OS will also handle functions like HDMI output so you could also use a pro HDMI field monitor.
