Title: Looking for suggestions for a good photo browser
Post by: JayWPage on September 10, 2012, 12:24:42 pm
I am looking for a new photo browser for a Mac. I'm sure there must be many good, inexpensive browsers out there that will allow you the freedom to import and organize your images in any way that you chose. I am tired of the limited functionality of the Finder program and I won't allow programs like Aperture to reorganize my photo directories (year/location/event). Any suggestions?

Lightroom will allow you to import any organize in any way that you want. I just told someone else something similar two days ago on this forum.

Picasa (http://picasa.google.com/)
digiKam (http://www.digikam.org/)

And if you in general feel that Finder is too simplistic to meet your needs, give PathFinder (http://cocoatech.com/) or ForkLift (http://www.binarynights.com/) a try. PathFinder was the major reason I have been able to stand using a Mac (instead of Linux). In fact, now I wish I could find a file browser similar in features to PathFinder for Linux (my primary OS). Using Finder for managing large numbers of files in complex hierarchies is like trying to demolish a tall building using but a single hammer.
