Title: Canon 5D Mark III What options for off camera flash?
Post by: Pandanus on September 05, 2012, 10:25:38 am
I have the 580 EX and was using Yongnuo ST-E2 transmitter on the 5D Mark II.   It does not work withthe Mark III.  Is there another transmitter I can use with out spending $ for the Canon Flash and transmitter.  But will the Canon transmitter alone work with the 580 EX flash?  Thanks.  Louise

If you are keeping the flash to with 33 feet of the camera look at the 33 foot long cable from http://www.OCFgear.com

I have used that cable with both the 5D Mark III and the 1D X without any problems, I have even using that hardwired flash as a master for a five light set up.

While I love my PocketWizard ControlTL systems for their versatility and reliability there are times when the best solution is hardwiring a  flash to the camera.

Thank you!  It certainly makes sense. I want to hand hold and that is most likely the logical way to go.   Louise
