Title: Approaching Storm at Green River Overlook, Utah
Post by: bretedge on August 25, 2012, 09:06:02 pm
Here's an older image I recently re-processed for a photo submission.  I made the image in December, 2007 as a winter storm rapidly approached Canyonlands NP.  This is not a black and white or sepia image.  There was very little color present and I kept the image in its native color as I preferred the hint of warmth to the cool black and white presentation.

1Ds Mark II, 24-105mm lens

Amazing. Great composition, timing and processing.

A spectacular moment captured and re-created in spectacular fashion - nicely done!

I know it is often heresy to mention it, but have you any though to cropping about 1/8 to 1/5 off the bottom? That being said, a screen representation at this small size doesn't do it justice, so there may be detail there (below the strong diagonal starting from the lower left) that I can't see. If there is detail, consider bringing it out slightly. If not, the negative space doesn't seem to add to the dynamic of the photograph as my eye keeps getting drawn to it to see if there is anything there.

Thanks for sharing!!

And bravery! I'd be hunkered down in my SUV long before this image presented itself. This great image has convinced me to take more chances. So if you don't see me posting any more...

I'm with Terry on this one.  The image is amazing, but the red rocks at the bottom keep pulling my eye away from the rest of the image, wondering what's there.  It's likely a small .jpg just doesn't do it justice.

Mike.

Wow! I really like this image. I have to say, I thought it was sepia toned at first, and liked that approach. I am surprised that the scene itself was "sepia only".
