Title: Dumb question: How do you turn on "Center Image" in Epson 3880 print drvr??
Post by: One Frame at a Time on August 15, 2012, 06:27:06 pm
I can see there is an option in the page setup dialog called "Center Image"  Its set to OFF.  How the heck do you toggle it on???  I have looked in the driver dialogs and the Light Room Print Settings all to no avail.

Thanks,

Paul

I only see that option in photoshop print dialog.
Lightroom doesnt have it because it has a built-in layout utility. You just have to configure paper size in the page setup and lightroom takes care of everything else.

Thanks Fetish, the dialog I noticed with what presumably holds the setting to center an image is in the Epson Print driver.  When I press Page Setup in LR, and then: "Printer Properties": the Epson Driver opens.  On the left is a box that displays a box labeled "Current Settings"  (there is a toggle at the bottom of it that says "always show current settings").  The top of this box is labeled "Main".  It shows a bunch of settings starting with "Media Type".  The last setting in the Main heading is: "Centered".  It is set to "OFF".  Which means (to me) that it can be set to ON.   I cannot for the life of me figure out how to toggle it on??

( Just looked at the screen capture that I posted.  I don't print photo's with those settings. )

Ah now I see what you're talking about. Strange how I never actually notice that section of the print dialog.

It appears that it's there when my paper type is set to 'sheet' instead of roll, and the 'Centered' setting is supposed to be toggled from the button called printable area.

Epson probably uses the same dialog template for most of its pro printers so certain options might be turned off or on depending on the printer model? And the 3880 is one of those that doesnt have that function, maybe?
I have a 3880 sitting around but havent gotten down to using it so maybe other 3880 users can comment if their dialog is similar to yours.

I don't find 'center image' in the 6.60 driver for the 3880. I always click this in PS (I don't use LR). I'll look at my 'old' 3800 driver when I get home.

I just checked my 3880 with an image I printed this week.  I don't think there is anyway that the 'centered image' can be turned on through the print driver.  Certainly the manual does not say that it can and if you click on the various tabs in the driver there is nothing there that permits you to do this.  I do all my printing using Lightroom and the margins and centering are all done there.  I have driver version 6.60 as Randy already noted.

I have wondered about this also as there is no way to turn this on or off in the Epson driver (3880). I print through Qimage though and that option exists under "Edit Page" . Curious...
