Title: Print count on Epson 3800?
Post by: karlpetersson on July 30, 2012, 05:32:36 am
Hi everybody
I have a bit of an issue regarding printer management.
The situation is this that I am setting up a an imac to connect to a Epson 3800 and use this for students to print their images on.
I do need to see how many prints each user is printing and have been struggling to implement this.
I did try to use the CUPS tool i.e. to look at the local host (http://localhost:631) and go under the job menu but since the 3800 is not a PS printer it will only give me file size sent to printer and not page amount.
I also looked at setting up papercut but that is intended to be used over a network and having the students to loggin over a network and that would put me in the situation of setting it up server.
This is a great tool but costs 500$ and require me to take one computer only to act as a server and this becomes a cost question.
If anybody have a great idea for me that could solve my problem I would be very happy.
Thanks
Karl
