Title: CS6 - Epson 3800 and Printing Black & White
Post by: GBCollins on June 29, 2012, 11:04:34 pm
For years I have used a workflow developed by Eric Chan (Madmanchan) for B&W printing on an Epson 3800 with great success.  Until CS6 came along.  The workflow, called "How to Print B&W with the ABW driver", calls for the PRINTER PROFILE (in the print driver, file>print) to be set to sRGB.  CS6 doesn't show sRGB in the drop down window, despite the fact that the sRGB profile is there when I browse the driver folder using windows explorer.  CS6 does show all my paper profiles, monitor profiles and some other RGB profiles, but not the sRGB, the way CS5 and earlier Photo Shop versions did.  It's called "sRGB Color Space Profile.icm" in my directory.  I've got plenty of other .icm and .icc files that CS6 shows in the window, just not this one.

Any suggestions.  (There is an e-sRGB available but the resulting prints are too light.  )

I hope this wasn't too tedious of a read.

Thanks, Greg

CS6 breaks that workflow. RGB working spaces are no longer valid entries in the popup however, you should still see sRGB since Epson installs it (for use with ABW). It will appear towards the very top of all the profiles installed by Epson.

The long-term answer for ABW is "Printer Manages Color"
