Hi Jeff. I'm really enjoying the LR4 tutorial that you and Mike produced. Great stuff!
In one of the last segments, you show your studio workstation. I was curious what monitors you use for your PS and LR workstation(s). They looked like NEC 30", but I couldn't tell.
It would be cool if you listed the equipment that you use to create your workstation as I, and I'm sure others, would be interested.

The two 30" are NEC 3090WQXi, the far left is a 2690WUXi. Those three are hanging off a dual quad MacPro with 32gigs of ram. I'm running a MacRAID card with 4 internal 15K SAS drives (I would do SSDs now). I'm running a pair of Burley Systems 6, 2 TB drive eSATA boxes stripe arrayed 0 and a 3rd box from Micronet RAIDBANK. The far right display is a newer NEC PA241W on an old early MacPro tower used for email, web and music.
The entire imaging area was designed and built by an interior designer who specializes in video editing suites. I actually got the design for free because she offered her services in a silent auction at my daughter's school. I had to pay for construction and installation. Pretty good deal :~)

Is the MacPro internal 4 disk raid your boot drive?
I guess you keep all images on the eSata raid external boxes?

Yes, the internal drives are for boot, users and PS scratch disk...everything else is on the external arrays. But the boot drives aren't actually a striped array, it's complicated...You can check out the way I set up the main SAS boot drive and moved my OS X Users folder to the second SAS drive based on this process: Why and How to Move your Users Directory (http://www.macgurus.com/productpages/guides/MoveUsers.php)...it's a bit geeky so I won't explain it here, just look at the web page if interested. The 2 other SAS drives are striped as a RAID 0 for sctratch disk only.

I'm familiar with the technique detailed on the Mac Gurus' web site. I have been using this on my MacPro for a few years now. I used the OWC SSD 240GB drive and their installation kit to remove my lower DVD drive (I had 2) in my MacPro to make room for the SSD. This is my boot drive. I moved my user folder to a 2x1.5TB Raid0 in bays 1 and 2. Bays 3 and 4 is a 2x2TB Raid0 that I use for photos.
Backups, Time Machine and extra storage are on two eSata SansDigital 5-bay towers with various drives installed.
My 5 year old MacPro 8core with 32GB RAM runs just fine even with the latest version of 10.7.4 OS.
