Post by: spotmeter on May 07, 2012, 10:05:52 pm
Leaving Friday for two weeks in Yosemite.

Was wondering how the water is this year?

There was lots of water coming down over the weekend. It's already seen the high point, but there will still be plenty when you get here.

Looks like the peak of water flow was April 27, 2012.

The water gauges seem to suggest flows are at about 75% of normal at present and dropping.

The big melt this year appears to have been April 21 - April 28.

If you look at the webcams, you'll notice that the Sentinel Dome webcam shows an almost complete lack of anything looking like snow.

I just got back from Yosemite and I would agree that the falls are slightly past peak. That being said, their is still plenty of photo ops of all of the falls. Dogwoods bloomed early this year and are past peak.
