If so what do you think?

I wish.  I have a Zeiss 25mm.  Still waiting for a D800.

Ellis, I'm sorry to dilute your topic with another question, but how about the Zeiss Distagon T* 18mm F/3.5 ZF.2 Lens?  I'm mulling over buying this lens and have read some online reviews, but would like to hear from anyone here who uses this lens on Nikon bodies.  I have never purchased the Nikon 14-24 lens, favoring the longer lenses, but as I begin to concentrate more on landscape, I'm looking wider. I'd rather spend the money on one excellent wide prime and zoom with my feet.

I've always found that 24mm is about as wide as I want to go. If I need wider I prefer to stitch

Ellis, I've seen some images taken with a D3x. The f2 seems to be a completely different animal than the 2.8 - meaning a better lens.
I just finished a tryout of a Zeiss 21 on my D700. I'm with Marc on WA, I have a 24 Nikkor, but am really more comfortable with a 28 focal length at the most. The 21 is a fine lens and if you like WA it might be just the ticket. Some complain about the moustache distortion, but the lens correction in ACR handles it beautifully.

The 25 f2.0 is a real character lens.  It would be worth checking out Diglloyd before buying. He has reviewd the lens and includes many 1:1 examples.

Very sharp centrally but not that impressive in the outer areas even when stopped down. Also CA is almost absent. Great colour and micro contrast.

If you go wider the 21mm is hard to beat.

I've seen Lloyd Chambers mini review of the 25mm. I am also looking at the 28mm f/2 Distagon T* as well.

Ellis,

http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/board/55  is a good forum for Zeiss info.

I would have to also recomend the Zeiss 35mm f1.4. It is becoming my favourite lens.
