Title: Malham Cove, North Yorkshire, UK
Post by: Alun on March 20, 2012, 08:25:53 am
One moment, one exposure. The weather on Saturday was pretty grim in North Yorkshire and I didn't hold out much hope for this shot. But just as I was setting up, the clouds parted for maybe 60 seconds and I fired off this scene  :)

Clicking through gets a great black background. Two thumbs up.

Very very nice, I love the exploring the detail in the background.  Is that second light-coloured ribbon a path next to the creek?

Thansk you for the kind comments - they mean a lot. Yes, its a path running alongside the creek (as a Brit, I love that word - I don't think I've ever taken a picture with a "creek" in it before!) and you might be able to pck out some people walking along it

Great shot of a truly iconic landscape. Thanks for sharing!

North Yorkshire is one of those places that has spectacular landscapes at every time of year and at almost every turn in the road, although not always in ideal weather! It ranks up there as one of my favourite places in the world for photography (and for pub meals like up at the Craven Heifer in Ingleton).

Thank you Terry.

And "thank you" or the pub recommendation - I now have to go back  ;D

Lovely shot that sums up the North Yorks 'Dales perfectly - it makes me want to get out there and start walking.  My only wee critisism is that on my monitor it looks a bit lacking in contrast / saturation - not much but maybe just a small adjustment would bring it out a bit more. That's nit picking though really, it's great shot.

Hi agree with Dewi. It's a bit bright sand lacking contrast. I'd darken it down it a bit. Otherwise it's a lovely image.

I see nice natural lines that contribute to a three dimensional look, a nice balance of land and sky, pleasing colors, a foreground that helps give a sense of place and does not overwhelm or distract from the background, and there is a bit of drama with those impending clouds.  Yup, I agree with all the thumbs up!
