While I was out in Hollywood at Reducation last May, I happened to meet a couple writers / actors who were also from Chicago. They hit me up a few months ago after finishing the script for a short called Best If Used By. It's a dark comedy about a woman who doesn't know quite how to say goodbye to her recently departed boyfriend.
The script was awesome. Our crew was awesome. We had a friggin awesome time. Shot over 6 days... mostly in either a grocers back cooler or outside in freezing Chicago.
Stills below...

It seems that destiny is driving you inevitably to the dark genre.
First was a divorced woman. now directly at the morgue.
...
But congrats for the work.
Stills look very good.

Heh... I seem to be quickly steering towards dark comedies written and directed by women. There's a bunch of iPhone BTS stuff on the FaceBook page (http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.311793982195880.69665.310485805660031&type=3)...
Now I just need to figure out how to make money at this sort of thing... LoL.

Where the hell is that sea ? so I can immediatly put it in my black list of places not to go. I already added portland Oregon in the winter after seeing the lens tests outside.
You guys are brave.
Watching the making-of stills, I already know that those Red could film in Siberia. The GH2 would have literally explode the first day in those conditions.
Yeah, we pay for what we get.
About making money, I guess it's exactly the same dilema that making money with stills at first when you have zillion guys doing also great imagery.
I think we need to produce content, good content, build progresively a reputation, being serious, creative and then contacts.
The need for multimedia imagery is there and will grow. I would be more preocupate if someone would ask this question within a still-only config.

Heh, that's Lake Michigan, buddy... aka The Midwestern Arctic Sea of Sadness.

A well deserved name indeed !
I'd have some questions about the Epic Chris.
- Have you find things you disliked on the Epic or that wheren't working well, unexpected issues ?
- About costs, could you give a range approx of what the Epic costs without lenses but with all necessary devices to make it fully operative, include cards etc...in fact, the real cost, hidden cost included.
- About differences between cameras, with the Red one, are the files really consistent and easy to mix in post or the Epic performs differently?
- On set, is it really versatile in the sense that you can shoot handheld without needing 10 years of fitness training, manouverable, fast etc...?
Thanks.

Good for you! Looks very interesting.

Beautiful Christopher! But then I wouldn't expect anything less from you.
Always wanted to do a dark comedy. I'm jealous.
Best,
