Title: Color grading Red footage with Edius 6
Post by: fredjeang on January 13, 2012, 01:48:30 pm
Hi,

I'd like to share with you a glimpse of the color tools capabilities inside the Edius 6 editor.
They are really powerfull indeed.

The reason is that I think the future lays in the merging into one single program of what we generally do today in several different units (Da-vinci for ex) and with an intuitive interface.
Da Vinci is a superb program, but it's another learning curve in the end.

We are not there (convergence in softwares) yet but Edius is close or at least on the right path.

If you are on windows, have a look at what this editor can do.  The link I share here is from a guy who also worked with Resolve, look at this video (there are various from the same serie of the same guy. He's quite good).
He grades here Red footage (in the second part of this video). This is just a glimpse of the capabilities that allows Edius 6 when it comes to color. They are unlimited and no need to third-party software.

I'd strongly recommend you take a look at this editor if you work on a windows platform. It's damn fast and very good integrated color tools and stable as a rock.

Fred,

Thanks for this!  It's a wonderful intro to video grading and has helped my understanding of Edius a lot.
