Eric,You are absolutely correct, Rajan. My father came from Norway, and the name is from an ancestral farm on an island off the west coast of Norway. It's name describes its location, on a marshy peninsula near a bay. The "vaag" in the name is related to the Icelandic Vik.
I suspect the "Myr" in your name is etymologically related to the Icelandic "Mýr" (from "Mýrar, meaning marshland or bogs), as is "nes" (peninsula or headland).
