I suspect the "Myr" in your name is etymologically related to the Icelandic "Mýr" (from "Mýrar, meaning marshland or bogs), as is "nes" (peninsula or headland).

You are absolutely correct, Rajan. My father came from Norway, and the name is from an ancestral farm on an island off the west coast of Norway. It's name describes its location, on a marshy peninsula near a bay. The "vaag" in the name is related to the Icelandic Vik.

I have been to Norway twice and Iceland once, but never to India. I very much enjoy your wonderful photos, both from familiar as well as unfamiliar places (and people, and "toast").
