I can calibrate using a new profile I build from scratch on my platform,
but when I try to recalibrate an existing target using printer utility, my printer utility just goes back to the previous screen when I click on calibrate paper.
So I can't calibrate existing paper from my computer, only from my printer front window.
Also, when I look into the device manager menu tree the z3100 resides on a usb Serial bus controller
That doesn't seem right.
Wouldn't it residwe on LPT port 1 or something like that?
I'm a beginner, so if you have the simple answer of why my computer won't communicate with my printer hdd I'm all ears
Thanks for any help.

Nevermind,
all sudden I have made the connection,
IDK what I enabled,
but there you go...
Thank you

I spoke too soon.
The job accounting tab and the settings tab have both become functional, IDK what I did but they work now.
I still cannot get color center to work fully.
I built a profile from scratch via color center & all color center functions work except
calibrate paper and create paper preset.
I sure want to calibrate from my desktop.
I cannot get the calibrate paper function to work from my desktop, but I can get it to work off the printer front panel.
Any clues?
Thank you all for the space
Oh yes, I failed to mention this is on a brand new Win7 pro PC running all brand new hardware and drivers.
Everything is up to date
Thanks and thanks once more

An old XP system kept running for that kind of tasks and even then I have to switch the Zs Off and On to get calibration and profiling done. I never claimed that HP has nice software.

Hi and thank you,
do I remember you writing about using the onboard profiler other than conventionally??
Are you using it for profiling?

Measuring on the Z a target printed on another printer? Yes. Creating a Z readable QTR 17 step B&W target to adjust the Z3200 non linearity with a Qimage curves made Printer Filter. Not yet finished and possibly not a wise job. Or something else?
