Title: What Software can I use on Mac G5 For Postprocessing
Post by: rollsman44 on November 30, 2011, 12:56:11 pm
I just purchased a Mamiya 645 AFD11 with Leaf Aptus 22. I have a Power Mac G5 with 10.4.11 software and 3GB Ram.  I cant seem to find a real good Software( like Capture 1 or LR3.5 ) that will work with my current( somewhat antiquated system). I am not sure if I should try to find a good software with my system or Buy A Newer computer that wont break the bank. I am now retired and just do some portrait work. Thank you

Try the 32-bit version of Leaf Capture 11.5.1 (http://www.leaf-photography.com/files/downloads/LC_11_5_1_32bit_Installer.zip)

Otherwise any version of Adobe Camera Raw that runs on a Tiger/ G5 setup will work with the files. If you shoot compressed you'll need to run the files through the Leaf Raw Converter (http://www.leaf-photography.com/downloads_rc126mac.html) first

(after running them through the Raw Converter even iPhoto or Preview will be able to process them)

Hope this helps, enjoy your new kit!!!

RPP

http://raw-photo-processor.com/RPP/Downloads.html

it is free (donationware - some extra features like 4+ cores support are unlocked if you donate any $ of your choice)

support = http://groups.google.com/group/raw-photo-processor/topics?gvc=2 (English) or http://raw-rpp.livejournal.com/ (Russian - but you can post questions there in English, you will get an answer as both people behind RPP development are in USA).

or

Iridient Raw Developer

http://www.iridientdigital.com/products/rawdeveloper.html

commercial

both can run on a limited hardware, sufficiently to say that they run perfectly fine in OSX under PC/Windows/VmWare
