Sweet hazy morning light.

Nice image, but I find the banding around the sun rather disconcerting. Is it an artefact of the jpeg conversion or reduction in size?

No problem here, clean transition on my screen (NEC 2090UXI). What monitor do you use?

A MacBook Pro, about four years old. It's not the best of monitors, but I don't notice problems with any other posts on this site or my own work. I'll have a look on my main machine when I get home.

Using a NEC PA241, i see uneven brightness in the mist that leads my eye to want to see halos around the sun. It is more visible when i look at an angle other than straight on to the screen. Similar to the effect i have seen in some compressed images.

I've checked. It certainly looks a lot better (though not entirely smooth) on my monitor at home, a cheap 27" Dell.

I'd not realised how crude the display on my Book could be. Live and learn.

Wonderful image, and for what it is worth I don't see any of the issues noted above (banding, halos, ..)  NEC PA271 so perhaps I have lousy eyes.  :)

Fine image, which is usual when the hand of man is predominant. I'm looking at it on a well calibrated Dell ultrasharp and I don't see banding either, Jeremy.
