That is one hell of a nail-biting terror!

That's one excellent Handscape, Jack!

Seriously, though, the debate essentially boils down to the question, "Did 'the hand of man' improve this nature shot--or did it not?"

Of the finger? Yes.
Next time, I will make it of my middle finger, just for you (http://www.johnkoerner.org/Emoticons/lol.gif) (j/k)

I think the palm of the hand would be better personally.

How about in an environment without the hand of man in it at all, as with a female of this species on this flower?

That's better. If the first shot of the jumping spider had been on a lady's nice, manicured finger nail, the shot would have been more appealing. There's such a thing as beauty, Jack. ;D

Who's going to break the sad news to Russ? That the Hand of Man may not be the ultimate element in every good photograph, and that the Hand of Woman, or even the Petal of Flower may sometimes be better? ;)

I once started a small video tutorial about some very delicate micro work. Once I saw my fingers (parts of them actually) on screen, I shelved the project :-)

No sweat, Eric. I'll take the hand of woman any day over the hand of man.

Ray, are you saying my trimmed (but slightly dry/dirty) fingernails are not beautiful? Perish the thought! (http://www.johnkoerner.org/Emoticons/lol.gif)
I agree with you that a woman's hand would be more beautiful than my own, even under less-dry conditions, but still don't think even the feminine form could compare to the natural beauty of a flower:

PS: Well, folks, it looks like Michael deleted my original account, John Koerner, I am assuming for my "middle finger" comment above (which must have transgressed some arbitrary boundary), but I just wanted stop by with a different "hat" to let the record to reflect that my comment was made playfully, not seriously. Anyway, just wanted to say, "So long!" to the friends I have made here, and hope y'all have a Happy Thanksgiving and a great New Year. Farewell.

Wherever you end up, hopefully you will last more than five minutes? :-[
