Updated my copy, a noticeable performance increase - frankly I'm well impressed how well this runs on my 2010 13" MBP

How did you get the update? It's not yet available on the App Store's "Update" page.

Someone posted on the Apple forums that if you put the FCPX existing app in the trash bin from your applications folder and just leave it in the trash, don't delete yet, then the App Store will recognize your need to install FCPX with the new updated version.
