Title: South Florida Locations

Key West.  Sunset at Mallory Square. Lots of cool houses and the Flagler Railroad Museum area. Also quite a few "interesting" people who frequent the Duval St. area.  :)

Any of the Keys are always a good idea.  Great land/water shots there.  Don't forget South Beach if you are interested in people.

For Nature, US 1 down the Keys.

Everglades, as you noted, are excellent.  Anhinga Trail is good to start out.

Hey all,
Just wondering if any of you know of some good spots down in South Florida. I am pretty new to the area and I'd like to get out and get some good shooting in but I don't know where to go other than say the Everglades, anyone have any nice ideas?

Thanks

Shaan

I used to shoot in Florida a couple times a year, and wrote some location summaries that are on my website. Hopefully something in them can help ...

Big Cypress National Preserve (http://www.nicholsonprints.com/Locations/bigcypress.htm)

Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge (http://www.nicholsonprints.com/Locations/dingdarling.htm)

Key West (http://www.nicholsonprints.com/Locations/keywest.htm)

Marco Island (http://www.nicholsonprints.com/Locations/marcoisland.htm)

Have fun. South Florida is a great place to be a photographer in.

How about Shark Valley (http://www.nps.gov/ever/visit/tramroad.htm) for open spaces, expansive fields of sawgrass and lots o'gators
or
Anhinga Trail (http://www.nps.gov/ever/visit/trail-rp.htm) for active & abundant wildlife and lush sub-tropical foliage?

Go find the Venice Rookery. I was down there in mid Februry a few years back  and I went over to the Rookery and there is a little island in the middle of a lake that is FULL of Egrets and Herons nesting with babies poking their heads up from the nest. At sunset, More birds than I thought possible flew in and settled in for the night. A great place!
