Title: Importing NEF RAW into Lightroom

Hello everyone.  I have a Nikon D3100 and am shooting in RAW mode.  This makes NEF files.  When I open LR and try to import says files cannot be read.  I have to use Canon's software to open and export as another type such as DNG or JPG.  Can LR not read my Canon RAW files?

Which version of LR do you have? Does it have the latest update for the version you have? Not sure which version of LR or ACR first supported the D3100, but I do know that it is supported in LR3 & ACR6. I don't beleive Canon software can read Nikon NEF files.

What the hell? Why would I type canon? I meant the Nikon software. I haveLR3

Do you have LR 3.3 or later?  Version 3, 3.1 or 3.2 didn't have D3100 support.  3.4.1 is the current version, although there's a 3.5RC as well.

Thanks Keith and Wolf!  Just updated because I had 3.0.  My RAW files open now!!!  You guys rock
