Oddly enough for me, I like this.  But I think it would kill as a negative.  White background and the flower as the black.

Roses are red, violets are blue...

When I was a kid we used to say the same thing, but it was slightly different in meaning: Rose's are red; Violet's are blue.

Gave us much childish laughter at the time.

Sadly, Rob, only those of us over 40 or with a really good education would understand that joke. Everyone else will think the apostrophes are there because there's an "s" at the end of the word.

Have you read "Eats, shoots and leaves"?

Yes, my daughter brought it out for me to read one holiday; I suspect she feels a deep sense of pity for me on my Alcatraz. She recently brought out the trilogy from Scandinavia based on the theme of the girl with the dragon tattoo. Sad to think there will be no more to follow, and even worse to think the writer didn't live to see the huge success of his work.

Getting further into the groove, there was this one from the factory floor: Nut screws washer and bolts!

I like the tonalities and the subtleties of the various shapes as they fade into the background.

Thanks everybody for your comments!

I tried your suggestion... either I am not so good ad post-processing or I need to find another subject, because I could not make it work with this image; but thanks for the tip.

Well, I am not that old and got the joke... perhaps because I am a pervert?

I don't know you well enough to comment, old chap ;). I'd like to think that it was because you had a really good education.
