Title: Chris, how do you convert your GH2 videos to FCP ?
Post by: bjornaagedk on May 04, 2011, 11:58:03 am
You use Final Cut Pro, correct? I just bought a GH2 a few days ago. Which software do you use to convert MTS files to Quicktime ? I found that MPEG Streamclip doesn't recognize MTS-files..!

Thanks in advance.

John is correct.

I use FCP Log & Transfer to transcode the GH2 video files to Apple ProRes 422

In FCP clip settings, the bitrate for my imported clips (ProRes) is 13,7 Mb/s. I expected to see 24 Mb/s as I shoot in creative mode 24H. Why???

The camera recording data rate is specified by Panansonic to be around 24 Mbps (megabits)

However after transcoding in FCP, the resulting Apple Pro Res file will be in the range of 13.5 MBps (megabytes) - considerably higher and resulting in much bigger files since the economies of AVCHD are gone but which are much easier to edit.
