Title: Luminous Landscape Guide to Fine Art Printing
Post by: Dave (Isle of Skye) on April 07, 2011, 08:37:17 am
Hi Chris,

I am going to buy the Luminous Landscape Guide to Fine Art Printing 'From Camera to Print' as soon as I can, but as I also know you are bringing out a newer version of this video and well basically, I want to buy both if I can, will there be a way to do this and dare I ask, would there be a reasonable discount when I do buy them both?

I hope the old version will not dissapear when the new one comes out (and before I have had chance to buy it).

all the best

There will be a modest discount available to customers who have purchased the original Camera To Print. 'Modest' meaning attractive but not huge, as we must completely re-do the whole Tutorial.

Pricing and final discount are, as yet, TBD.

The discount will be in the usual form of a % off coupon that will be made available in the last - currently empty - zip file of the original tutorial

I wanted to download to calculation spreadsheet for the Speedmat from my account but apparently my download grant has expired, so I guess I cannot download the certificate either.
Hopefully you can corrrect this.
Thanks in advance.

Is the publish date available now ? Has the recording already been finished yet ?

Best wishes

We are shooting half of it this week, and the balance in May.

It will take some time to edit.

We'll keep everyone informed.

I have started the editing process but it does take a while...

My best guess at this point is that customers will be able to download the first section by late July.

The plan at this point is to release the new Camera to Print & Screen [C2PS] in stages - in a manner similar to that used for the L-L Guide to Lightroom 3.

While the whole multi-hour Tutorial will be sold as a unit, this time the separate sequences that are included and which make up Camera to Print & Screen will be available for purchase as stand-alone videos. For example the subjects Colour Management and Image Quality will be available for purchase separately.

Hi,

thanks for the fast answwer !

is the rule of selling, selling seperate parts of the video independently, be compliant to the discount of buyers of the old video ? Will the sum of the single parts smaller or equal or higher compaed  to the price of the complete video ?

Btw, no LLVJ20 for this year ?

Best wishes

Robert

The details are not yet finalized but here is what we are thinking:

- Healthy discount for the new C2PS for owners of the existing C2P but this will mean buying a bulk package initially with yet-to-be-published content. You will need to keep an eye on What's New for newly available material.

- Separate subject videos with no discount available.

- The sum of these separate subject videos will likely be larger than the whole C2PS package.

Any rundown of what might be different in the new video, vs. the first one?  I assume some minor workflow issues will be different.  Will there be other areas covered that were not addressed in the first video?

Firstly the whole video is new and will have quite a different approach and is substantially more detailed. This tutorial will be titled Camera to Print & Screen

While the primary emphasis remains the production of perfect paper & canvas based prints, the screen makes up an increasingly large part of a photographer's presentation. Thus preparing images for slideshows, the iPad & the web will be more emphasized.

There will also be far more emphasis and expansion on Image Quality; more depth & detail on both Colour Management and Resolution - and more shirts.

...and more shirts.

Hey, what about an auction for the shirts - or something like the first 2 or 3 orders will receive one of the shirts ?

Hey, no way would I give up one of my shirts!!! (besides, since they are 3XLT size, it wouldn't fit too many people).

But I think we ARE going to have a contest involving the "shirts"...more details later.

On the other hand, I bet that several people could fit into it  ;D

Hi Chris-

I'm anxiously awaiting your new C2PS. I have Photoshop CS5 and a new Epson 3880 printer in route as I write. I want to have a good basic understanding of color management/workflow before I plug in the new 3880 Designer model, I plan to spend a month or more reading/viewing/researching all I can before pushing it's buttons. There is allot I don't know but need to. This 3880 comes with an EFI express RIP (whatever that is), I hope the new series addresses such an issue as well as the new print settings in CS5.

Since I do have the latest in printer & post production software I feel I need to wait for C2PS. What amount of overlap is there between the two parts? Would I gain much by purchasing the first part with my hardware/software? I also run a 27" iMac with Snow Leopard and as usual, hear lots of incompatibility stories with the color workflow hence my need to be sure the CS 5 settings & printer settings etc. are correct. Any comments, insights, to the above would be greatly appreciated.

  Thanks, Bob-

You will need to be patient for C2PS - it will take most of the Summer to complete.

The existing C2P will help with principles a lot and since there will be a healthy discount on C2PS for customers who own C2P, the final net cost of C2P will be just over half of its current cost...

Hi Chris,

Looking forward to C2PS when it becomes available.
This discount you mentioned will that also apply to those who purchased C2P when it first came out?

Thanks,

Stu

Yes - of course!

There will be a coupon code for the discount placed in the final zip file of all C2P orders "CameraToPrint_Extras_2.zip"

(It is not there yet...)
