Title: Waterfall at the Milford Sound, New Zealand

At Milford Sound on the south island of NZ at the moment. Took a boat trip along the sound and got a pretty nice (I think! :)) capture of one of the waterfalls. Comments/feedback welcome.

Perhaps I would like to see it a bit brighter (not too much, without breaking the mood), but I guess you preferred it this way.

Thanks kindly for your comments! It's a rather rough edit as I've been working off my laptop in a smelly camper van on the side of a hill :)

That's really superb. Keep it in B/W, the tonality is fine, the framing and light speak for themselves. Print it big!

I would play a little with the curves and make it even brighter, but that is just my (very arguable) personal taste; it is your photograph, try to please yourself, not others.

Post by: Patricia Sheley on February 28, 2011, 03:08:30 pm: Liking the second B&W, though it starts to lose some of the tonality in upper center , with the new edge too much like the wonderful forms below and drawing one off the top of the page...there is just so much to like about this one...can see pleasurable time working with the image down the line... I'd like it to be one of mine...

I think you succeeded in finding a good compromise between two extremes: milky streams, ubiquitous with most waterfall shots, and every droplets frozen in the air.

When I look at my photos, it definitely seems to be a case of "less is more" and I should probably strive to try and not get every last detail in an image as I have a tendency to do!
