Does anyone know where should I monitor on to find a Spectrolino or a DTP-41T
I need to some profiling for backlite material but don't want to put down 5K USD for the barbieri.
Thanks

Spectralinos & Spectrascans turn up on eBay every now and then.
That's how I got mine.

If you have an i1pro, you could try to use it with ArgyllCMS profiler - it has a fake transparency mode, so you can just backlit the target and scan it.

the thing is i'm not a good programer plus I want to use it with RIPs as well.

There's one on eBay right now. $600. Item # 350420033607

does DTP-41B reads Transmissive media as well? I thought only T does, maybe i am wrong.

You are correct, only the T version does (I own one).

I just did some research for myself and found out this instrument does read both R and T media
http://www.xrite.com/documents/manuals/en/DTP41-500_AutoScan_Spectophotometer_Manual_en.pdf
also I've checked the with Wasatch RIP which will allows me to click on the Transmissive option.

On the bottom of my unit, it shows DTP41BUV/T. Might want to double check with the eBay buyer (I think there is only one manual for all flavors of DTP-41s). IF on the bottom of the unit being sold, there actually is a black (BL) and Trans (T/w) slider, you’re good to go. There is also a target for calibration for T mode.

The unit on eBay is NOT capable of measuring transmissive targets.
Check the photos supplied on the listing and compare to the illustrations in the PDF linked to above for confirmation.

According to this (http://www.xritephoto.com/ph_product_overview.aspx?ID=469&action=overview), the transmission base is optional.

How come it is so hard to find such a device?
How does other people do their backlite media?
Just by using the canned ICC profile?
or send it out and let some other people do it for them?
Is it I really have to put down 5 grand and buy the Spectro Swing?

I had the DTP41 and the software was great for OS9, but you won't find any functional software for new machines and new OS versions.
I'd take a look at spectros that have modern drivers.

Cause at the time, it was damn expensive, few were made (demand was low).

That or a Lino T which is really slow.
