Title: NEC PA241 and Mac Mini
Post by: walter.sk on November 20, 2010, 06:26:57 pm
My wife's LaCie CRT monitor is on its last gasp.  She has a Mac Mini with an nVidia GeForce 9400 chipset with 256mb VRAM on a PCI bus, and currently has a blue VGA connector going from the computer to the display.

I would like very much for her to get the NEC PA241 but I am not sure if her computer would be able to handle the monitor.  Does anybody here know?

Should be no problem - i have an older Mac Mini driving a Dell Display at 1920x1200 via DVI

Would she lose any of the monitor's functionality if she runs it from a VGA output from the computer?  I downloaded the display's manual but can't find the answer to that question.

You could connect via VGA, as the PA241W has VGA, DVI and DisplayPort inputs. However since your MacMini will either have a DVI output or a miniDisplayPort to DVI dongle, either of which you can use to connect to the PA241W and get the benefits of a digital signal.
