Every year Nikon sponsors a photo-microscopy contest and scientists from around the world submit outstanding and original images, often using sophisticated techniques such as convolution microscopy, confocal microscopy and florescent microscopy.
The top 20 images from this year's competition are on the Scientific American (http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=nikon-small-world) web site and are worthy of a look.
