I will have to admit that having been to Myvatn once, I at first read the stars as midges! (The name "Myvatn means "Midge Lake.) In summer one doesn't want to camp closer than about a quarter mile from the shore or the little critters will clog your eyes, ears, nose and mouth.

No chance for aurora when I was there in late June; the sky was never dark enough.
