Er, can't see any birds. In fact, can't see any photo whatsoever.

Personally I don't think the bird adds much. I don't think the tree on the right adds anything either, although the colouring on the building is quite nice.

I think the tree takes up some empty space and balances the image. It stops your eye moving out of the right hand side of the frame. The bird is insignificant and might be mistaken for a dust bunny? 8)

Appreciate the time you both took to look at the picture. I thought perhaps the bird stopped the eye from wandering through the empty blue yonder and actually put it in. A bit of silly cleverness. It's gone.

Could you not have panned down, taken another shot, stitched and included the height of the whole building?
The way I see it, the picture is of the building, and the moon and bird are part of the background.

The moon was added in too, right? Something about its angle relative to the low light of the sun just seems off to me.

To Dick Roadnight: I agree that would have been ideal, but as it was the lower frame was a mess of cars, trucks and construction that I felt compelled to crop.
To Andrew Kulin: No, the moon was what first attracted my notice.

The image is well balanced, with a strong diagonal and interesting light on the main subject. The moon and the bird add compelling small details to the sky area -- the bird in particular elevates this from a nice frame to a "moment." The bird is in exactly the right place.
PS, if you are going to clone things out of the sky, take out the dust spot. Yikes.
