Title: Iceland #7 - Alien
Post by: Josh-H on September 07, 2010, 07:47:45 am
This was shot just before dawn at the black volcanic area in Iceland 'Veidivotn'; where mountains of black volcanic tephra are covered with luminous veins of green moss and deep blue pools lie in the craters. Its a totally surreal location. I used the LEE 10 stop Big Stopper ND filter to capture the movement in the clouds.

I get little impression of depth... this may be due to the low res web file, but I think it is partly due to the lack of aerial perspective or mist, and under-exposure.

I like it.  I can see what Dick mentioned about the lack of depth, but printed large I think it would be beautiful.

It's a nice shot, but I'd prefer to see some detail in the lower right corner. On my monitor it's just a large black hole.
