Are you both located in Germany? Perhaps it is filtered to German IP addresses (US sites do that all the time).
-
doesn't work for me either! I get an endless "connecting to server" whatever I do :'(.

Endless "connecting to server" here as well. Even when I'm using a German proxy.
-
may be some one can download and share on other video hosting?
-
Same here.
I´m located in Austria - but can watch all the other videos on the arte website. Only Gursky doesn´t work.
But i´ve already seen it on TV ;)
They´ll show it again on 13th September, 11:25 MET.

It works fine here. I'm located in Switzerland…
Tho_mas, thanks for sharing.

I just called them up to ask them why it does not work. Only Germans and French have the right to see it! It's q question of rights, I was told (before the person just hang up on me).

Does anybody else hear the sound of sucked blood?

I can't see the video, either, but it's probably copyrighted with limited usage rights, so sharing it would likely break laws in most jurisdictions. The mere fact that they have blocked non-German IPs (assuming here) shows that they don't want it spread outside - in the hopes of licensing the documentary abroad.
Ironic to see such a request on a photography forum, as pro photographers rely on copyright for their income as much as documentary producers.
-
hmm, I got a different answer by email. Now they tell me about technical problems with the Flash-Player...,

I'm located in Switzerland and didn't use any trick to watch it. If it's not a technical issue then they might restrict to countries where ARTE can be watched on TV set. A workaround would be to try to use a german or french proxy.

You can see the documentation installing Cyberghost from http://cyberghostvpn.com/en/surf-anonym.html

I am based in London and I could not watch the documentary either , but after searching on it on you tube I could find all 4 parts and watch it. I highly recommend it , it's a fascinating film. I am rather intrigued what kind of software and workstation his retoucher used to puzzle the final image together ? Loved the final result !

Interesting to see how large and mid-format with digital enhancement with Paintbox is made to work to create some historic pictures. I am still a bit conservative about extreme post-processing. ;-) Does not make me feel comfortable to claim a post-processed images as "my photographs" and they do not serve the historical objectives of photography besides artistic. Call me 'conservative'!!! ;-)
