Hope this is not a repetition if the subject has already been posted.
I would like to know which image has always been in your thoughts or there for you and which image you would be most proud if you had taken it.
You could list 3 with a link if possible but at least the name of the photographer and the name of the image if possible.

In no particular order:
a. Herb Ritt's cover shot of Helena Christenson for Pirelli 1994;
b. Francis Giacobetti's beach shot of Alexandra Bastedo (I think!) where she sits on the extreme left of the shot, her breasts just cupped within the
string bikini (compare with Art Kane's shot that might have come earlier...), Pirelli 1970;
c. the entire Sarah Moon Pirelli for 1972.
Remarkable, to me, that they are all to be found within the Pirelli oeuvre.
I am sure there would be some Hans Feurer ones from his fashion shoots, but other than to suggest you see his agent's site:
http://www.wibagency.com (http://www.wibagency.com)
there's litttle to do other than refer to French Elle, No 2623, 8th April, 1996. There were some in his old site that knocked my knees together, but they have gone...
There was a 60s/70s billboard shot by Adrian Flowers for, I think, either Martel or Courvoisier, of an artist working with a group of characters looking on, or so I sem to remember it, but I am certain about its impact on me at the time. The sort of stuff that kept one fighting to get somewhere too. Don't feel much of that today.
In the end, it's the flavour of these people's entire works that do it, not simply a particular shot; they are/were really all quite spectacular talents.

I would like to know which image has always been in your thoughts
that changes all the time...
Currently probably:
Taryn Simon, "an american index of the hidden and unfamiliar"
Richard Misrach, the desert series (actually the beach series, too)
Andreas Gursky: Fomula 1 series
I also admire Edward Burtynzky's series "Oil" and Mitch Epstein's series "american power".
As to (more) commercial photography... I think Jean Paul Goude's imaging of Grace Jones still has an impact on me.

Then you are in good company with French PHOTO magazine, who ran a lot of their pics together; I couldn't bear any of it, mainly becaus of his style and her personality (as seen on screen - happily, I never met her).
Which just goes to show what a mixed bunch we are. However, as Gursky is another of my no! no!s...

Rob, Looking at these and at your web I can understand why you feel landscape is anticlimactic. You really were a master of your genre.

Gulp!
Thank's very much, Russ, you've made an old geezer rather happy.
But it's true what I have often said about myself: landscape always calls (to me) for the human bit...
Thanks again,

Christopher Burkett's "Tranquil forest, Maine" and "Translucent forest, Colorado".
Charles Cramer's "First light, hillside, North Carolina".
Simple, exquisitely beautiful photographs of the forested landscape. Both these photographers have a wonderful eye, and are incredibly skilled printers. It's the kind of work I aspire to, and makes me smile every time I see it.

Jean-Marie Straub and Daniele Huillet. I know they make movies, but still (pun intended).
“ … Suddenly an experience of disinterested observation opens in its center and gives birth to a happiness which is instantly recognizable as your own.
The field that you are standing before appears to have the same proportions as your own life. ”

They have always been in my thoughts. They are the reason why I started with cinematography and later photography.
... but I do also like Joel Meyerowitz's work ;)

Over the years three of images which have become iconic for me are:

The Burning Monk, http://www.thewitness.org/archive/mayjune2003/img/BurningMonk.jpg
