Title: Dust deletion data
Post by: JeanMichel on April 19, 2010, 09:17:14 pm
Hi,

Is there a way to use the Dust Deletion Data (Canon 5D Mark II) directly in Camera Raw (CS4) ?

For the first few months of use I did not get any dust on the sensor. Did so recently and had to clean the sensor - not difficult but tedious. I will be using the camera for a few weks while away from any computers so I am planning to use the Dust Deletio Data feature just in case I end up with dust marks. I know that Canon's DPP will let me use the data, but my workflow is Camera Raw and PS so using DPP just for the dust deletion will be a bit of a chore.

Thanks for any advice.

Nope...you might ask Canon to consider documenting their format and how the data is stored...and it would be nice if there was a standard for storing such data. But alas, there are rally no standards except for EXIF and that's pretty substandard if you ask me.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I was afraid that this would be the case.
And thank you for sharing your knowledge here and places such as the Camera to Print L-L tutorial and the second edition of Image Sharpening.
