Title: Inkjet paper that is like Duratrans?
Post by: nfenton on April 14, 2010, 03:27:35 pm
Does anyone know of a cut paper that is inkjet compatible for a backlit application?

Something like a Duratrans?

I need something that would be compatible with a HP B9180

I'd use a Backlit Film in a small roll (24" x 5') and cut it into sheets. It will print well with the pigment ink on your HP B9180.

That is what I was thinking of doing... cutting a 24" roll down to 30x19" sheets

Vistek.ca has Epson 24" x 100' Display Trans for $159

Would a product like this work well in the B9180?

Not familiar with the BP9180----I use an Epson 9800.

For backlit displays, I use Kodak Universal Backlit film.  Works great.

Pictorico Pro High-Gloss White (http://diamond-jet.com/prohi-glosswhitefilm.aspx (http://diamond-jet.com/prohi-glosswhitefilm.aspx)) or Pictorico OHP Transparency Film (http://diamond-jet.com/premiumohptransparencyfilm.aspx (http://diamond-jet.com/premiumohptransparencyfilm.aspx)) would work for this.

I have a box of the white film sitting on top of my printer right now... I have yet to open it because when I emailed pictorico, they told me that the film is opaque and will not shine light through.  Are they telling me misinformation? Also for the price, a roll of 100' of the Epson trans is about double the price of 20 13*19 sheets of pictorico

It's opaque, but bright lights behind it will illuminate. I've used it for digital negs when printing lith (although it wasn't worth the extra exposure time vs. OHP).

Coincidentally, I just received an email promo from Imaging Spectrum. Here's part of it:

[blockquote]The Epson DisplayTrans backlit film that you purchased should have produced some extremely good looking, high-resolution, crisp, colorful backlit prints (if not, you might need to download the Epson DisplayTrans ICC Profile (http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103309729112&s=14561&e=001oLoGFb78vMszWKhrZH4epTvGVviO-XpyfAHy4CSwgehtDJNFJq7D0t6WCz1vntsjZ9WlCeQx4BTUpHTVZdtDrBH0S-87SoEILLAMMhuSmYod47KELMFdAb78APksMsfkEwteXNPDGI7Ahr1dYrETHefxgsBeoMzoIx0L_ZxzDH8=)). If you liked the DisplayTrans film, we have good news for you, it's on sale for half price through June 30, 2010! All you have to do is to buy two rolls, then fill out this mail-in rebate form (http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103309729112&s=14561&e=001oLoGFb78vMsk8lDMGTCO8EiB7Dg4gZ0GW4JR-hb-4lIxquvukcuXlbQ98kJoE-CGJlGZSDuymEgL8qFyhCEJuwW_W45ri6P-hqBxXXlbLzwk5qXTkUNAUgqM1OyvxugA3xX_xLNsde3n_qwSLA6577up1MhWhIMnUH9RBFJXlxuoXQz4XdnuQg==) and Epson will send you a check for one roll. Voila, 2 rolls for the price of 1!

You can order 2 rolls of the same size or mix sizes (rebate check is for least expensive roll if mixing sizes). Here are quick links for ordering on our website:
