Title: LED Studio/Print Eval Lighting
Post by: braeburnboy on March 19, 2010, 01:22:38 am
[topic moved from Print forum]

I have been looking at getting a Litepanel LED floodlight (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/608411-REG/Litepanels_LP1_BCF_1X1_Bi_Color_Variable_Color.html) (3200K-5600K Variable 100-0% Dimming) from B&H and using it for both print eval and studio shooting lighting

my thought was that this would let me adjust the lighting color temp when looking at a proof so it would mimic the customer's lighting where the print would be displayed

Does anyone have experience with print evaluation lighting or studio work using these LED floodlights ?

I wouldn't use the led light or any studio light to view prints. See:

I use a short track over my (dedicated) viewing table that has three heads, each containing a solex bulb, 4700 Kelvin, 36 degree spread.
I noticed the led can adjust Kelvin and dim. This is not desirable since the lighting in a viewing area should remain consistent. Desk lamps using Solex bulbs are also available.
