Title: HD memory card capture speed
Post by: LarryLandolfi on February 22, 2010, 01:47:53 pm
Friends,

I know this must be a "basic" question, but I can't find an answer anywhere. I am about to buy a Canon 7D camera body and want to know what card speed would be the minimum I would need so the camera wouldn't "stall" while shooting movie mode. Sure, I know I can't go wrong buying a 600x card, but because of budget constraints I'm just throwing this out there. I have a 133x card, and am probably guessing a 233x would be fine. I think I remember reading somewhere that in HD movie mode each "frame" is only 1-2MB, so at 30fps you're capturing something like 50+ MB/sec. Does that sound right? Thanks in advance.  Larry

Wouldn't the camera specs say something about this?
