Sorry, Jeremy. It doesn't move me nearly as much as others you have posted. It reminds me too much of several hundred of my own photos of similar subjects that seemed like a good idea at the time but came out blah in the print.
I usually don't comment when I don't care for an image (unless I can see a quick fix for it), but I thought I would this time because I like your other photos so much better.
Maybe someone else will love it.

Doesn't work for me. I think you need more of a sense of 3d space for this kind of image to work.
Like Eric, this reminds me of many shots I've taken that seemed like a great idea in the field that just don't work once reviewed.

Since you are asking for commentary, I think it is rather busy and jumbled. The sumac, to me is an elegant tree with its fir-like leaves and fine-haired branches. Hard to convey. You will note the small white areas of out of focus areas, they are distracting. I almost always try to avoid shots where light peeks through trees as small circles of white, unless it is intended that way. The BW treatment does not appear to work either. Hope I was not too harsh. I have been there too.

Sorry Jeremy. I'd toss it. Like John said, I like sumac, it has some great textures, but it gets lost here.

Fair enough: the consensus is clear. I had hoped someone might have been able to see something in it that had eluded me and made it worth keeping, but plainly not. I have absolutely no objection to frank criticism - in fact, I insist on it.

I've been doing a little housecleaning recently and going through old prints from darkroom days. I have been appalled and embarrassed at many losers that I not only printed, but in many cases even went to the trouble of dry-mounting. I'm beginning to think of 'the bin' as my friend.

Yup. There was a post on Twitter today from someone who added 11829 images to his Lightroom catalog in 2009. He wants to shoot more in 2010. I was tempted to tell him to make 10 images instead. Ah, well. To each his own. Or her own as the case may be.
