Title: grinding mill

Picture taken with  Panasonic Lumix gf1, 14-45 mm kit.  b&w conversion with bw styler.
comments welcome as to how to improve the picture

I think it's a great still life.  Vignetting gives it a feeling of nostalgia.  I don't think I would change a thing.  Nice job.

I agree, the gradual transition from areas of light to dark is wonderful.

Did you shoot it with a square aspect ratio or did you crop it later?

I think this is very well done, it has a lovely tonal range. The only changes I can suggest is to crop out a bit at the bottom to show the entire wheel (if possible), and crop in at the left to hide the stick. I can't tell if those would really be improvements without trying.
