I posted my lily pads shot but not many saw it. I think a thread of unusual shots would be interesting. Anyone have any... I know you do.

You need to post larger files, both this and your other image are too low rez to see anything!
-
Here's another one. Is that better?

What is the point of this?

If you click the thumbnail, you'll find a perfectly adequately-sized image...

They are shots of things that look like something other than what they really are. Or there is some mystery, like the Lily pad that defies what we know about nature. Just a little fun in the face of all the tension. Even a funny shot. Just something out of the ordinary.
This is a very serious minded forum and that's good because I am getting a bit of help with my 4880 printer. But over coffee I like to play! Maybe I shouldn't assume anyone wants anything but information.
Thanks Jonathan!

I know that but the image was still too small to see anything.

I do. And it happens to be my personal favorite of all my photos, a P&S accident. Sometimes the laws of unintended consequences work in your favor...

Aha, now I can see it. Please don't assume we're only into gear, images are often more interesting.
I like the light and composition for the most part, but I wold crop it a bit on the right and at the bottom...

I like it! It's a fantasy landscape at sunset, viewed acorss a lake or river. A couple of the "houses" on the far side already have lights on in the windows.
I have no idea what the actual scene was, but I find it evocative and fascinating.

P.S. The enlarged photo is even wider than my screen, so I had to reduce it a bit (easy to do in Opera) to see the whole image. For size, I think a width of somewhere in the 800 to 1200 pixel range works well on most screens (at least on mine it does. )

The more I look at this first one, the more interesting it becomes. I keep finding more texture.

Oh yes tokengirk! That's the ticket!
That shot is amazing. Ghostly! Interesting. What have you done with it? Sold? I hope so.
DDK, I know there are some incredibly experienced photographers here. I will never be in most heres' league. I read every word you all say and when I need the next piece of the puzzle I will run across it and fit it into my game. So I need the gear and technical stuff too. I can't post the kind of photographs in the quality that you guys do but I can show you how I see things. I am however passing from the average side of my camera to the more professional tweeking side of it. I am not afraid of critiques. I want honesty and friendship.
Thanks Eric, yes it is across water. Thank you for playing. I know noone likes being fooled but sometimes we miss so much in our shots because we are "focused" on one thing. Do you have any cool shots? Look over some of your rejects. Focus one something other than the intended subject. You may be surprised.
YES! Texture is a big part of my vision!
