Title: A Meeting in the Streets

These two girls were probably planning some sort of innocent mischief.

Selective desaturation.

That's my kind of shot, Dave. It has everything: landscape, architecture, and people. The composition with the twisting walk leading to the girls is excellent. Bravo!

All:  Thanks for the comments. You probably can't tell from the jpeg but I'm frustrated with this shot because it is a near miss. The chair on the left is the focus point, not the girls. Ugh.  Russ, I have much respect for you street photographers; very hard to get everything right during the fleeting moment.

However, a shot like this is probably good as a small framed accessory in a hallway or bedroom, not a 20x30 focal point.  So it might be successful regardless!

Ciao,

Dave

Dave, I certainly know the sinking feeling you get when you find that the camera focal point isn't where you thought it was. But in this picture the psychological focus point is the girls. That winding yellow (gray actually) brick road leads directly to Dorothy and her buddy. It's a very good shot, actually helped by the flat light. The problem was with the setting of ISO 100 and f/4.0. When you're out on the street, remember, the street-photographer's motto: "f/8 and be there."

I really like this picture.  It makes me feel that I am actually in the street.  Very fine work.

The focal point may be a little bit off (I didn't notice until you said it), but your photographer's eye is right on!  Great composition, and great capture of the decisive moment.
