Title: Nikon's lack of support for their scanners under Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopardp
Post by: ttorgove on October 31, 2009, 01:14:52 am
It is unbelievable but Nikon has chosen to discontinue support for their scanner software Nikon Scan for those Mac users using the latest operating system Snow Leopard.
As far as they seem to care we should buy the Silverfast program for about $400 or consider our $1000 scanner as useless as a brick. How do others feel about this?

Alternative: Buy a copy of Win XP while you still can, and use that under bootcamp or better under Vmware. A DSP license for XP + a Vmware license will cost you less than Silverfast.

I posted this earlier today under the Digital Image Processing section which may be of some help:

[Well as nobody could give me any first hand experience of Nikon Scan with Snow Leopard, I just decided to try it and it works fine. In fact it seems more stable than it did in Tiger. For anyone else trying to run Nikon Scan (I'm using a 8000ED scanner and a Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 GHz with 8 GB ram and an ATI Radeon X1900 graphics card) give it a go.]

Hope this helps,

John
