Saw this duck(?) in southern New Hampshire this week
not sure what it is ? I couldn't find it in a waterfowl guide.

Well? It's not a species native to eastern North America that I'm familiar with, so you're not going to find it in any waterfowl guide. Looks like it might be a hybrid of some sort, probably an escaped domestic.

It's a Mallard crossed with a domestic duck of some kind. I don't know about the fluffy head, but the curl on the tail feathers gives away the Mallard portion.
Mallard crosses are pretty common, but they can have a wide range of appearance.

That is one stylish do.

Possibly a juvenile Aflac duck.

Looking at my Stokes book, it looks like it might be a cross with a Mallard and a Red Breasted Merganser or even a Hooded Merganser.
Just my nonprofessional guess.

Definitely the result of Rex Murphy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tshmrYZnjXs) fulminating in the wild - he never ducks an issue.

Hi,
The below is a picture of a Crested duck (European name). Suspect your feathered friend is a hybrid between this and a Mallard!

Puts me in mind of Harpo Marx...

Based on Andy's photo, i guess my Aflac juvenile guess wasn't so far off after all!!
