Did they shoot this thing on film?

Someone buy the blu ray version and let me know if it is worth getting.

I have a bunch of the Roosevelt and Muir images from the LoC.  Nice to know the story behind them.

It's shot on 16mm film, and looks a bit grainy at times. The HD broadcast looks good but not great, I certainly wouldn't call it reference material.

The word "pompous" frequently came to mind during show #1.
Tepid music.  Very unlike KB.
Some very nice time-lapse of the Tetons, though.

I really liked the way they revealed Denali.  (Although it did remind me of the Powersauce guys showing Homer the Murderhorn on an old Simpson's episode.)

It was a splendid series, the narrative put together quite beautifully.  Kudos to Ken Burns and Dayton Duncun.  It was above all a story of America's capacity for "error detection and correction" - ploughing through initial uncertainty, missteps and folly, but eventually bringing the idea to fruition.
