Title: Strange Ixpress error
Post by: A.K. on September 21, 2009, 08:30:30 am
I have just tried to mount a new adapter on my 132c, the back displays "Updating adapter" and then "f can not be initialized". The same thing now happens with my old adapter, which was previously working fine. The new adapter is a mint one and came straight from Hasselblad. The camera is an AFD and it works flawlessly with the filmback. The error is displayed whatever the back is mounted on the camera or not. Has anyone heard about this error?

I think there are two different versions of M645 adaptor plates. I think the 132c takes the older one. I'm not for absolute certain. You may want to talk to Hasselblad USA in Redmond, WA.

My adapter is definitely for the older Ixpress backs so it is not the cause.

I have had similar forms of this error but with V & H adapters. Most of the times it was resolved after redoing firmware upgrades. In many cases this error started when I did an upgrade of firmware that came with a new version of flexcolor. I also got this once when I swapped a H adapter from one back to another.

For misery like this I used to have an older firmware version ready which I knew was easy to put in and would always function. When the sh*t hits the fan I would downgrade towards that version to get it all functioning properly again and upgrade afterwards.

I never did quite get why I got this.

I hope I have solved the problem by force downloading the firmware with no adapter attached. When launched (without adapter) the back immediately showed the error, but upon next launch everything worked. I have attached the adapter and the camera and it is now running.
