Title: Tallgrass Prarie National Preserve
Post by: pathfinder on May 24, 2004, 12:48:53 am
I visited the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve briefly in the September 2002.  http://pathfinder.smugmug.com/gallery/121083/1/4358286

There is a barn with displays there and some outbuildings and ...prairie.  I am not aware of hours - but the prarie is visible from the highway so should not be a problem. The Preserve seems pretty low key - there was a Ranger in the barn that day, and he seemed to want some company to talk to.

A nice place to visit, but pretty low key.

I'm going to be visiting family in Kansas and want to check out the Tallgrass Prarie National Preserve for possible landscape photo opportunities.

Has anyone per chance visited this area recently?  I'm curious as to access by vehicle, whether or not they close at 5pm, that sort of thing.
